Greg Rothman (born December 10, 1966) is a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 87th House district in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. He serves on four committees in the House of Representatives: Transportation; Children & Youth; Urban Affairs; and Liquor Control where he serves as Secretary.
Prior to election to the House of Representatives, he served as a member of the Real Estate Commission and was elected Vice-Chairman. He is a Realtor with RSR Realtors. He was inducted into the Realtor Hall of Fame in 2016. He began his career as a real state agent in 1989, began a partner in his firm in 1999 and President/CEO in 2001. He is a State Certified General Appraiser and holds the prestigious MAI designation and CCIM designation.
Born, December 10, 1966 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Rothman attended Cumberland Valley public schools and graduated in 1985. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, in 1989 with a degree in Political Science. He was classmates with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Secretary of State, Pedro Cortes; Brian Darling, Tony C. Rudy and Edward Corrigan. At UMASS he was a leader of the conservative movement and the Student Government Association serving all four years as a Student Senator. He was a statewide leader of the Massachusetts College Republicans. He worked as Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the United States Senate Steering Committee. In 1988, he took a semester off of college to work for the Presidential campaign of Congressman Jack Kemp (R-Buffalo) working in New Hampshire, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Florida as Youth Coordinator and Advanceman. He served as Communications Director at the College Republican National Committee. He is the maternal grandson of former Franklin-Templeton Mutual Funds Chairman of the Board, Henry Louis Jamieson. His great-uncle was Ed Jamieson, who served as President of the National Press Club and was a confidante of President Lyndon Johnson.
Upon graduation he went to work for RSR Realtors founded by his father William Rothman and Charles Schubert as a real estate agent. He graduated first in his class with a Master of Science in Real Estate from Johns Hopkins University and earned awards for both highest GPA and best thesis. He was promoted to partner in 1999, and President/CEO and Broker of Record in 2001. In 2012, he was succeeded by his younger brother Garrett H. Rothman as Broker of Record.
He served in the Marine Corps from 1991 to 2001, which led to his appointment by President George W. Bush to the National Veterans Business Development Corporation to empower veterans to segue into entrepreneurship. He graduated from boot camp at Parris Island, SC in August 1991. He was assigned to India Battery, 3rd Battalion, 14th Marines in Reading, PA. Over ten years he was promoted to Staff Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge in January 2001.
His community service includes leadership posts for Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, the Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg, and the Harrisburg Young Professionals. He plays over-30 baseball, loves to run and hike on the Appalachian Trail with his Chocolate Labrador named Reagan. He and his wife also have a Boxer named Elvis and a Yorkie named Pearl.
